Hi I’m Ali Aldis, founder and owner of The Soy Wax Candle Company in Braintree’s Blake House Craft Centre. My beautifully scented candles, reed diffusers and wax melts not only bring the hygge, they are also 100% sustainable.

I joined the candle revolution at just the right time. Like many people, I was forced to give up my job during the pandemic. One day, I decided to make a candle and from there the passion for creating beautiful fragrances for your home began. 

I now create all The Soy Wax Candle Company products in the workspace at my shop Artisans Hub at Blake House Craft Centre, Nr Braintree in Essex. CM77 6SH

Each new fragrance goes through a rigorous quality and safety testing process.

I was determined to keep my business green, so  sought out a sustainable producer of soy wax: I wanted to use soy wax as an eco-friendly alternative to paraffin, but I discovered that some companies are tearing down rainforests to plant soy, so I tracked down a sustainable supplier, whose product is 100% traceable and who have been working to end deforestation for more than 20 years.

The soy wax just makes lovely natural products. As well as the wax, which is compostable, the packaging is all recyclable and refillable. Customers who bring the candle jars and reed diffuser bottles back for refills get £2 off their next purchase – and I have customers doing this on a weekly basis!

As well as candles, wax melts, reed diffusers and other scented items, my Muddy Stiletto Award-winning shop Artisans Hub also sells a range of products from local artists: children’s toys, art, greetings cards, jewellery – and more.
